Virgin

I took this photo on my way into the Virgin Megastore on Sunday morning. Yes, my new favorite thing (has been for a while, actually) is going to the Coco Moka Cafe on the upper level and relaxing on the patio with a cup of Seattle's Best coffee. I like the coffee more each time I drink it. It is smooth. And I love the view from the patio, or terrace, looking out at the people enjoying the West Side of Downtown Disney. It is just nice!

When I decided to post this picture, I had to decide on a title, as we all do when posting. I was looking at the photo and thinking: Virgin In The Clouds, then I noticed the letters above the sign; after I stopped laughing, I thought Virgin With Gas. That would have been too crass, so I just went with Virgin. LOL

And, on a final note, I have seen Coco Moka Cafe misspelled a number of times recently, and it always makes me think of the WONDERFUL Coca Cutie. Here are some of the misspellings: Coca Moka Cafe, Coca Mocha Caffe, Coco Moko Coffee Shop - lol. I like the first one.

I've noticed that the Great Blue Herons that hang around Champions Gate get annoyed a lot easier than the ones that hang around Lake Toho. Why is that?

Road Trip 12/22/08

Little did I know that the smoke I was photographing in the first shot was some fifty miles from where I was standing and that I would be driving by it a couple of hours later on my way to Stuart, Florida.

With the exception of the first photo, all these were shot from the Florida Turnpike on my return drive from Stuart, once I saw how incredible the sky looked with the sun going down. I was doing about 70 mph the entire time, so that explains the blurriness of some of the photos.

On the way down, I took a couple of shots of the smoke with my cellphone camera and sent them to my Mobile Blog.

Drive-by shootings of my arrival home yesterday. I wonder how long it took for the cameras mounted above the lights to pay for themselves. I wonder if the cops were able to cut back on hiring when they employed the cameras. I wonder if challenges are ever won in court by the wrongfully photographed.

Raglan Road Two

Raglan Road Irish Pub, Downtown Disney, Orlando, Florida, December 7, 2008. I just love this building, especially as a drawing. The girl came out, stopped, looked around for her friends, then gave them the thumbs up. I'm gonna check it out one of these days, just to make sure the inside and what they serve are as good as the outside. I'll let you know my findings.

Birdman Of Lake Toho

All those birds are hanging around because this guy, who I call Birdman of Lake Toho, loves to feed them. He doesn't just throw the big birds a fish now and then, he brings food with him every day, like bread and left over ribs.

Claude the Hawk Head Parrot

Some of you may remember the beautiful hawk head parrot I was lucky enough to get a photo of last April at the Exotic Car Show in Celebration, Florida. Here are five photos that his owner, Greg Jones, sent to me after discovering the photo I took posted online.







Greg is a judge at the exotic car shows and it looks like Claude is always on his shoulder when he's at the events. That's Ralph Lauren on the left in the second photo, and Jay Leno holding Claude in the third photo.

Breakwater Today

The lake has looked so beautiful this week, as I round the bend and come upon the breakwater. Notice there are no people on the breakwater in the forefront, but a couple can be seen on the on in the distance. The entrance to this one has been fenced off. I happened to be driving by the day the city workers installed the fence. From a distance I thought they were installing a gate that could be locked at night, but in fact it is a fence that prohibits access altogether. I asked the man that runs the Airboat rides about it, and he said someone complained that the dock didn't have wheelchair access, so the city shut it off completely. The outer breakwater can be accessed by wheelchair, if you roll it across a couple hundred feet of dirt and grass.

I was lucky enough to run into this group of people that seemed to be on a field trip to Lake Toho yesterday. Must be a photography or bird watching club.
