I convert the images to .gif in Corel Draw, then re-size them. It just seems easy to me, I guess, probably because I use Corel for my business. I'm open to suggestions and always willing to learn, though.
OK. I asked because you currently have three blogs and, if they are on the same Blogger account, you'll exhaust your quota very quickly if you keep posting gifs. Your Kissimmee_LakeToho_Fishing_C.gif weights 1.15 MB, but when converted to .jpg (standard encoding) it weights 323 KB. Big difference.
I resize first to 1200 pixels and then save as .jpg standard. The average weight of my photos is ~300 KB.
